Senior Technical Advisor for Cybersecurity

Cheri Caddy is the Senior Technical Advisor for Cybersecurity in the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security & Emergency Response at the Department of Energy. In this role, she leads coordination of cyber R&D efforts and alignment with national R&D priorities and policy.

From 2022-2023, she served as the Deputy Assistant National Cyber Director for Cyber Technology and Research in the Office of the National Cyber Director at the White House. At ONCD she was the executive technical lead for development and implementation of the 2023 National Cybersecurity Strategy, in which she included national goals related to operational technology for the first time. She led national EV cybersecurity efforts, which included planning and executing the White House Cybersecurity Executive Forum on Electric Vehicles and Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (2022) and leading community-wide completion of follow-on actions on vehicle telematics security, R&D, and technical standards.

Over the past 30 years, Ms. Caddy has held senior technical and policy roles across a wide range of cybersecurity missions in the US Government. Key roles have included a previous tour as Senior Technical Advisor for Cybersecurity at DOE, Executive Director of Enduring Security Framework at NSA, Director for Cybersecurity at the National Security Council, and cyber roles in the Intelligence, R&D, and foreign affairs communities. She has degrees from the University of Virginia, American University, and Norwich University and has been a Senior Cybersecurity Fellow at the McCrary Institute for Cybersecurity & Critical Infrastructure at Auburn University since 2017.
