The FedInsider team dusted off our running shoes last month and joined over 600 supporters for the GTSI Charity 5k Run/Walk for the Wounded Warrior Project in Herndon, VA. It was early, it was chilly, and the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd was infectious – better than coffee.
With spouses, children, infants (we saw some strollers out there), and even dogs, we had a fabulous time meeting and chatting with folks throughout the course.
Representing the women, Maura Carroll was the first to cross the finish line at 17:58. Runner up Trish Blackwell came in at 19:19 with Win Persina coming 3rd in 20:08. For the men Girma Desta was first to cross the finish line at 14:27, with runner up Genmessa Megerssa at 14:36 and Ryan Witters in 3rd place at 14:51.

That being said – no prize was as heart-felt as the $40,000 check presented to the Wounded Warrior Project at the award ceremony. A fabulous time was had by all, and we couldn’t be happier to have helped make it happen. Looking forward to the next one!
